A beautiful day in the garden

With the essence of spring well and truely in the air, our Blackburn Osteopath Osteopath Lisa took the opportunity cruise out of the big smoke through the gorgeous Mt Dandenong Tourist Route to Silvan, winding up at the Tesslar Flower Farm.  Lisa was lucky enough to catch the Tulip Festival on its closing weekend; according to the Flower Farm, there were more than a million spring flowering bulbs including almost a million Tulips on show.

Though the flower festival is closed now, there are many beautiful walks and picnic areas to visit.  With around 1 in 4 Australians considered to be Vitamin D deficient, there is no better time of year to go outside and get some sun!  Vitamin D is crucial for our bone health as it supports calcium absorption, keeping our bones strong.  As Osteopaths, we see first hand the negative consequences of brittle, Osteoporotic bones on our elderly population.  Remember, prevention is better than a cure.

Some of Lisa’s favourite walks include the Dandenong Ranges Botanic Garden, formerly the National Rhododendron Garden in Olinda, or if you’re after more of a cruise you could head down to Silvan and check out the Reservoir Park (pack your BBQ or picnic goods!) Or go even further and drive through our gorgeous rolling green hills to Emerald and check out some of the tracks near Victorian Icon Puffing Billy.

Enjoy Spring while it lasts – we are sure to be in for a scorcher of a summer this year!
