Are you suffering shoulder pain?

Have you been noticing pain in your arm or shoulder?

Are you struggling to find a comfortable position in bed, enduring shoulder pain at night?

Are you having trouble lifting, putting on your bra or reaching backwards?

You may be suffering from Shoulder Impingement Syndrome.

This is condition occurs when a muscular tendon and bursa become compressed between the bony prominences of your shoulder.  The tendon involved runs along the top of your shoulder, attaching bone to muscle and allowing movement of your arm.  A bursa is a thin fluid filled sac that sits between bone and surrounding soft tissue, acting like a lubricated cushion to prevent friction.  Bursitis occurs when the synovial membrane, the outside of the sac, becomes irritated and inflamed causing thickening, excess synovial fluid and pain.

Basically, in Shoulder Impingement Syndrome there is not enough space between the acromion (bone) and soft tissue, causing to to ‘pinch’. This may be through tendon damage, overuse, inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, bony spurs, poor posture or even direct trauma to your shoulder.
